- The Barcelona-based company has developed the Lynx 240, a modular electric vehicle charger that charges 50% of a car battery in less than 10 minutes (250 km of autonomy)
- The Lynx 240 will be manufactured domestically, has the capacity to charge two vehicles simultaneously and is made from recycled and recyclable materials
Barcelona, 10 December 2024 – The start-up Floox has launched the Lynx 240, the electric vehicle charger with the highest power density in the world, 382kW/m³, and the most compact of 240kW (with dimensions of only 905 x 537 x 1850 mm).
Its high capacity makes it possible, in less than 10 minutes of charging, to provide the vehicle with 250 km of autonomy (the average distance recharged by electric vehicle users on the road). It can also charge 125 km in less than 5 minutes or 100 km in less than 4 minutes. In other words, it can charge more than 1,300 km of autonomy in just 1 hour. In addition, its compact dimensions facilitate installation and favor the deployment of fast and ultra-fast charging infrastructure.
The Lynx 240 is a charger designed to be placed on public roads, in service stations and at petrol stations, as the charging times it offers are ideal for stops during journeys. It is also very useful for large fleets of electric vehicles that need fast charging.
Its modular architecture makes it possible to adapt the power to the customer’s needs, who can choose from a range that goes from 120 kW to 240 kW (with 40 kW modules). Thus, if a customer starts with 120 kW, they can add modules to the charger in the future to increase their power, with options of 160 kW, 200 kW and up to 240 kW.
In addition, the Lynx 240 allows simultaneous charging of two vehicles, thanks to the two hoses included. Made from recycled and recyclable steel, this charger reflects the sustainability values of Floox, which is committed to responsible and innovative local production.
The charger includes remote software updates, credit card payment option, preventive maintenance, full connectivity and 12” vandal-resistant touch screen, among others, all to offer an intuitive user experience.
This launch not only represents a technological breakthrough, with several international patents pending approval, but is also a clear example of disruptive intrapreneurship, a sign of the evolution of the industrial sector towards new market needs and trends.
Since its creation, Floox has generated 17 direct and 5 indirect jobs, turning over 1.6 million euros in sales in its first full year of life (2023). Also in 2023, Floox revolutionized the market by launching the Lyra 60-80 charger, the world’s most compact charger with 60kW and also with 80kW. The company expects to close this 2024 by increasing turnover to 4 million euros.
Jordi Gazo, founder and CEO of Floox, emphasizes that “we have once again managed to manufacture the most compact charger in the world, this time with 240kW. With the Lynx 240, Floox reaffirms its commitment to innovation and sustainability, actively contributing to the future of electric mobility”.
This entire project has been made possible thanks to the support of Premium PSU, a leading Catalan company in energy conversion with more than 40 years of experience, which has acted as Floox’s incubator. A project with the mission to promote the use of renewable energy sources and the transition towards a sustainable mobility, economy and society.
